Utah Core Stanards - Grade 2
Visual Arts
Strand: CREATE (2.V.CR.)
Students will generate artistic work by conceptualizing, organizing, and completing their artistic ideas. They will refine original work through persistence, reflection and evaluation (Standards 2.V.CR.1–5).

 Standard 2.V.CR.1:
Brainstorm multiple approaches to an art or design problem, and make art or design with various materials and tools to explore personal interests, questions, and curiosity.

 Standard 2.V.CR.2:
Experiment with various materials and tools to explore personal interest in a work of art or design.

 Standard 2.V.CR.3:
Demonstrate safe procedures for using and cleaning art tools, equipment, and studio spaces.

 Standard 2.V.CR.4:
Re-purpose objects to make something new.

Utah Ed Tech Standard 5
Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)

 ISTE Standard 4
Innovative Designer
Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.

 Reflection: I enjoy art, so for this assignment I am exploring art for second grade.  I have created a flyer to help students get started on art projects.  We will use our imaginations, explore different media, and reuse things that were meant for something else. We will create individual pieces of art out of ordinary things.  This is a second Grade art project to let the students be kids while learning about art.  The students can search the web for ideas on what they will create and see what other students have created.
